The Society was formed in 1980 to maintain an association of those interested in the study of Family History, Genealogical Studies, Local History and Heraldry. It promotes the preservation of documents, monuments and other material of special interest to Family Historians. It aims to transcribe and index relevant documents and monumental inscriptions. The geographical area of interest is centred on Peterborough but includes parishes within an approximate radius of 15 miles. This covers parts of the (old) counties of Cambridgeshire, Huntingdonshire, Northamptonshire, Rutland and Lincolnshire. It is the Society’s aim to hold regular monthly meetings with a bookstall and its library holdings available. We also have a resident 'expert' who can help with most queries. In addition to publish a quarterly journal and to make available its considerable archival collection. The Society is a member of the Federation of Family History Societies; the East Anglian Group and the Peterborough Forum Group. |
