2015

1 April

The second of our well-known family history speakers - Colin Chapman will talk about these generally forgotten aspects of WWI.
6 May
AGM + Writing Your Family’s History
Member Alan Johnson will give some suggestions on how to start (and when to stop) writing your family’s story for others to enjoy.
3 June
Manorial Records
Dan Williams of Northants Archive Service will help us explore the use of these records in tracing our ancestors, and not just those in the Middle Ages.
1 July The GOONS
Peter Hagger from the Guild Of One Name Studies will talk about how to start and run a “single name” family history society.

The committee has been concerned for some time over the decreasing number of members who attend our monthly meetings. A survey of the 90 members who live within a 50 mile radius of Peterborough produced a 61% response. Most wanted the programme to concentrate on basic and generic family history topics as opposed to local/social history. The preferred format was a talk followed by a workshop looking at associated research techniques.

The committee is now organising the July to December programme with these comments in mind and the website will be updated as soon the programme is confirmed.
