    Explanation of Terms

  • M.I.

    This term means Monumental Inscriptions. These cover gravestones (headstones) and other items inscribed by monumental masons.

    NBI

    This is the National Burial Index which is a collation of burial records by Family History Societies throughout the United Kingdom. The Federation of Family History Societies (FFHS) coordinate and publish this index. The index is available from the Federation bookshop on CD or is accessible through the Family History On-Line site which is a pay-per-view area.
