Membership Subscription Rates & Applications

New Member Applications are now only available via Parish Chest as this is the most cost-effective way for a small society to process the financial transactions.

Existing Members can also use Parish Chest to renew their subscriptions and this is recommended especially for Overseas Members as it negates the need for them to obtain a UK £Sterling cheque.

Parish Chest

What we provide for all members

  • Produce a quarterly Journal which includes articles from members about their research, “help wanted” and reports of meetings.
  • Direct internet access to our extensive archives – over 190,000 names listed.
  • Regular emailing of UK family history events, news and changes to research facilities.
  • Regular Facebook posts of local/national family history items plus research hints and tips.
  • During the current pandemic we are holding regular ZOOM meetings in place of our normal face-to-face meetings. Members are provided with a link via email for each meeting.

MEMBERS INTERESTS

It is with regret that the Society had to remove the Members' Interests information from the website.

The General Data Protection Regulation which comes into force in May 2018 means that members have to give specific permission on how the Society can use each piece of data held about them or held on their behalf. Thus the Society would have to obtain permission from each member as to what pieces of their information can be passed to others by way of email, Journal articles or on the website. If they decided to cease their membership then the Society would have to trawl the archives to remove any reference to them.

The committee decided that this would cause to much work for our small society and therefore decided to remove Members' Interests (and some other information) from both the website and the Journal. We regret the inconvenience caused by these statutory changes.
